Cruisin’…

June 27th, 2010 by Emily posted in Family Stuff | No Comments »

Owen got a big wheel from Gramma and Poppa Ferrell for his birthday in March.  He loves it and drives it all over the house.  He has recently gotten quite a few time-outs and even had the big wheel taken away because he won’t watch out for Ethan…who has recently taken up crawling…and has run over Ethan’s fingers and toes on several occasions.

We are working with him and reminding him that he has to watch where he is going and most importantly…be nice to his brother!  So the big wheel doesn’t become a ‘bone of contention’ we decided to show him how much fun the big wheel can be for TWO!

Ethan is a little nervous about this adventure…

Now he is having fun…

Before we know it, Ethan will be running after Owen and wanting to ride the Big Wheel by himself.

Memorial Day Weekend…

June 27th, 2010 by Emily posted in Family Stuff | No Comments »

We had a busy and fun Memorial Day weekend last month. Lori came and visited for one of the days, we finally went out and got a double-stroller, we went down to the Rib Fest at Charlotte Beach and broke out the sprinkler for the back yard. We had a lot of fun and thought we would share some pictures of our weekend.

Ethan enjoying the new stroller…

Riding the carousel at Charlotte Beach…

Ethan takes sun safety very seriously…

Enjoying the backyard.  Check out our new fence in the back ground…we LOVE it.

This scene did not end well…

Friends again…

Ethan’s in bed…time to break out the sprinkler.

Daddy enjoyed it too…

Summer Happiness…

Hope you all are enjoying your summer as much as we are.

Enjoying time with daddy…

Owen loves one on one time with either Jim or I. It doesn’t matter what we do with him, he just likes that he has us all to himself for that small period of time. Jim loves that they can sit down and enjoy a show together or actually have a conversation about something now. And I love how excited he gets about doing things that I think are mundane – going to the bank or Wegmans – but to him it such an exciting adventure.

Here are a few shots of Owen and Jim enjoying some quiet time while I was giving Ethan a bath.

Talking about how awesome Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is…

Katie didn’t want to be left out…

I have the best family in the world :)

Horsing Around…

June 5th, 2010 by Emily posted in Family Stuff | No Comments »

Whenever I leave the boys alone for a few minutes and come back into the room, I am usually in for some sort of surprise.  Either Ethan has spit up on the floor or has some toy in his mouth that he shouldn’t or Owen is climbing on top of the bookcase or smacking Ethan in the head with a toy.  Lately though, I most often find Owen sitting on Ethan and saying that Ethan is his horse.  As much as I tell him he is too big to sit on Ethan and that Ethan is not a horse…I have to admit it is really funny and cute…and Ethan actually seems to enjoy it.

Giddy-up…

We are now trying to re-direct Owen to give Ethan’s back a break…

Instead of Soccer camp this summer, it looks like we will be headed to Cowboy Camp :)

Seneca Park Field Trip…

June 5th, 2010 by Emily posted in Family Stuff | No Comments »

Recently Owen’s class took a field trip to the Seneca Park Zoo. I was lucky enough to be able to take the day off and enjoy the fun of watching dozens of kids, 18mths-5yrs old, enjoy our local zoo. Owen had such a great time and really enjoyed getting out and spending the day with his friends.

Ready for a day of fun…

Checking out the toads…

Hanging in the wolves tunnel with his friends…

Attack of the polar bears…

He loved the Elephants…

But loved the playground, most of all…

It’s gotta be DNA…

We finally went out and bought Owen a little potty.  We haven’t gotten brave enough to actually start using it yet but we did put it together and Owen was really excited to try it out.  What happend next was hysterical and can only be explained by the fact that Owen is male and it has to be part of his DNA.

Sitting on his new potty…

Practicing ‘using’ the potty…

The next thing I know he leans over and picks up the instruction manual and starts reading it…

And than he asks if he can have a magazine to look at…

As I said this can only be explained by the fact that he is a male…who else reads while they are going to the bathroom :) I love this kid and his wondeful sense of humor.

Ethan’s a 1/2 year old…

April 30th, 2010 by Emily posted in Family Stuff | No Comments »

Ethan turned 6 months old a few weeks ago and in typical Ferrell fashion, we celebrated with CAKE!! Actually this is more of a Tripp thing than a Ferrell thing…we Tripp’s will use any excuse we can to make a cake. My sister does every 3 months the first year of her children’s birth…I am more health conscious and only do the 1 month and 6 month milestone :)

Owen helped me make the cake and was so excited that we got sprinkles to put on it.  He kept telling Ethan “Happy Birthday” all day long…it was very cute.

Cooking School at the Ferrell’s…

Birthday Time…

Trying to get to the candle..

Ethan pushing Owen away from his cake and saying “Hey, that’s mine!”

Hmm, Frosting is good…

Ethan was a little bugged that we all had cake and all he got was some toys to play with.

Don’t worry bud, only 6 more months and you can dig into your real birthday cake. Happy 6 Month Birthday Ethan!!!

March 2010…

April 30th, 2010 by Emily posted in Family Stuff | No Comments »

Here are some of our miscellaneous adventures from March 2010.

Ethan is learning to sit up on his own.

Playing at Jump Club for Owen’s birthday.

Ethan is really enjoying his baby toys, especially the jumper.

He loves it when Katie comes by to check on him.

Owen also enjoying the baby toys!

Ethan got a blue leisure suit as a baby gift from someone, and he really thinks he looks stylin’ in it.

Owen became obsessed with making coffee for Jim and every morning he would pull the coffee maker out of the cupboard and play with it. This does not occur as much anymore but he still takes it out once and awhile and wants to make everyone coffee.

Both boys love bathtime…

Owen trying on his big-boy underpants. He is really excited to use his potty and start wearing his underpants every day. I am not as excited to start this chapter of our lives :)

Enjoying the playroom.  Yes, that is Batman driving Cookie and Elmo in a John Deere tractor. Our son is a goof!

Ethan using the big high-chair for the first time…

That is our month, in a nutshell. Hope you had a wonderful March!!

Owen turns 2…

April 28th, 2010 by Emily posted in Family Stuff | No Comments »

Our baby boy turned two in March and it is crazy how fast the last two years have gone by.  Owen is such a wonderful, funny, smart and loving little boy.  He is also mischievous, willful at times and is known to bite on his bad days :)

It is hard to put into words how much I love this little boy.  I waited so long for him to come and he has blessed me every day since he arrived.  He is quick to give us hugs and kisses and tells us he loves us all the time.  He is a wonderful big brother and is always so happy to see Ethan.  One of the best parts of my day is when I pick the boys up from school, I get Owen first and he runs down the hall to the Infant Room saying “I gotta get my brudda”.  He runs into the room, goes straight to Ethan and says “Hi bub-bub” and gives him kisses.  The teachers can not believe how loving and excited he is to see Ethan every day.  Owen has a wonderful sense of humor and comes up with some great one-liners.  He is very inquisitive – I think his favorite expressions are “What are you doing”, “Why are you doing that”, and “How’s this work”.  He loves tools, working with Jim on ANYTHING, doing anything that Jim does – including wearing his hat backwards and wanting to wear a Sabres shirt every day.  He loves helping me cook, do laundry and anything else he deems as ‘helping Mumma’ and he currently loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and would watch it all day if we let him.

Well enough of me bragging about my awesome son…here are some pictures from his 2nd birthday :)

Getting ready to dig into some cake…

Looks like Ethan wants in on the action…

For some reason food always ends up in his hair…

Enjoying his big-wheel that Gramma and Poppa got him…and you gotta have a screwdriver in each hand:)

And of course…the Mickey Mouse cake. This isn’t exactly what we thought we were getting, we thought we were getting an official Mickey Mouse picture on the cake but it turned out to be a ‘free-hand’ drawing of Mickey Mouse. Oh well, the cake was delicious and Owen didn’t mind at all.

Easter 2010…

April 28th, 2010 by Emily posted in Family Stuff | 1 Comment »

Easter was a lot of fun this year. Owen totally got into the whole Easter Bunny idea and was really excited about coloring eggs and an Easter egg hunt. We had a wonderful family day – went to Church, came home and everyone, including myself, took a really long nap and then we had a nice dinner and later went for ice cream. It was such a nice day and Owen had so much fun looking for the eggs…he kept asking if the Easter Bunny could come and hide some more :)    Here are some pictures from our day.

The boys enjoying their Easter baskets…

You gotta have an Easter Bunny Pez…

Ethan was very excited about the Handy Manny cars…

And some pictures from Church…aren’t they so handsome? :)

Ethan’s first Easter…

We hope you all had as wonderful an Easter as we did.
